Agent/CVB asks us to add a Venue – what to do when the venue says they don’t want to be added

Agents and CVB’s will ask us to add venues for them so they can send event enquiry forms out.  Occasionally a venue will contact us and advise us they do not want to have their venue added to venuedirectory.com and ask us to remove them from our database.


This can be a knee-jerk reaction to receiving a welcome email from us out of the blue and they may have no knowledge of our company and be concerned that they are receiving unsolicited emails.
When this happens we should:
  • Keep the listing active but make it private to that particular agent or CVB who asked us to add the venue.
  • Ask Graham or Andy for help in explaining the benefits of being listed with us (this may turn into a warm lead).
  • Speak to the venue and explain why we have added them and the benefit e.g. a client has asked us to add their venue free of charge to our database in advance of sending out an event enquiry booking.
  • We should never advise the agent or CVB that a venue has refused to have their venue added.
If the venue is still unhappy after you have spoken to them, please escalate to the Venue Support Team Leader.
