Before you merge

When a venue merge is completed, Venue A is retired and merged into Venue B, which becomes the live venue record going forward. Any bookings linked to Venue A will then appear in Venue B’s Enquiry tab, and the merged items display under Venue B with a reference to the former Venue A record.

For confirmed and provisional bookings:

  • Future-dated confirmed and provisional bookings from Venue A should carry across to Venue B so they remain visible after the merge.

  • Past-dated enquiries and bookings are not expected to carry over into the Enquiries table.

  • If a provisional or confirmed booking still needs attention after the merge, this may need to be handled manually, for example by liaising with the agent or updating the booking option as appropriate.

Before completing the merge, make sure Venue A has already been retired in MyEventsChannel, as the merge cannot proceed until that has been done.

You can use the venue merging tool in Endeavor to combine two venues into a single listing. This tool is helpful in several situations, including:

  • When you find duplicate venue listings.
  • When a venue has separate listings for different areas (for example, different buildings or sections of a university campus) and you want to merge them into one.

1. Once in Endeavour please click on the Venues tab and click on Merge Venues

Once on this screen it will show any previous venues that have been merged. To start a new venue merge please click on Add

Next you need to complete the form with the details of the venue that you are looking to merge from and the venue you would like to merge to, provide a reason for the merger, provide the status of the merge and the date of the merge.

For the From venue (Venue A) , this venue must be retired in MyEventsChannel before the merge can take place.

To select the venue you will need to start typing the venue name and then select the correct venue from the selection provided.

The next step is to select the venue listing that you wish to merge the data to (Venue B).

Again you will need to start typing the venue name and choose the correct venue from the selection provided.,

A reason for the venue merger will need to be selected. You can choose between Venue Closed or Venue Duplicate.

For the Merge status you can choose to either merge or unmerge the venue from the selection provided. To merge the venue, you will need Merged as the status.

The Merge Date will always show the date that you are merging or unmerging the venue on.

After you have completed the above form and checked that all details are correct, you will need to click Save to complete the venue merge.

A pop-up will now appear asking if you are sure that you wish to go ahead and merge the venues. Please click on Yes Merge to go ahead with the venue merge.

The venue merge will have now successfully taken place, and you will be taken back to the Venue Merge homepage and should be able to see the details of your venue merge.

If, for any reason in the future, if you need to amend the venue merge please click on the icon in the Actions column

The edit Venue merge will appear again and to revert the venue merge you will need to select the venue merge status to unmerged.

Once you have selected unmerged, you will need to again check all details are correct and press save changes,

You will then be taken back to the Venue merge homepage, and the merge status will have changed to Unmerged.

Once the venues have been merged any bookings from Venue A will now be visible within Venue B's enquiry tab within MyEventsChannel,
